Ball State University London Trip

From the 1:th of June to 5:th June I travelled with the Ball State Alumni Association to London. Some of the things we did was visit Burberry and listen to Angela Ahrendts, visiting historic locations such as Windsor Castle and Westminister Abbey, travel with the Thames Dinner Cruise, watching Dreamboats and petticoats and several other things.

I travelled with SAS from Copenhagen to Heathrow and the last part of the trip I took the Heathrow express. One nice thing was that when the plane arrived to London it passed over central London and in this way I could see many of the things I visited later on the trip. The sun was shining and perfect start for a week in London.

Heathrow express is nicer to travel with and goes quicker than with the tube but it costs 20 pound compared with 5 pound for the tube. After arrived to Paddington station I switched to the tube and traveled to embankment station.

I lived at the Royal horseguards hotel that is a really nice 5-star hotel in central London. Close to Westminister and Westminister and it was once Scotland Yards headquearter. The service is really good when arriving to the hotel and throughout the hole week. The rooms are also nice and they have people that helps you if you have any question. Some of the things that could be is the restaurants they recommand and one of the other travellers ordered a glass of whine that had went something with. I think with a hotel with that pricelevel and stars they should smell if it is a good bottle of whine. After arriving to the hotel I took a walk to Westminister and watched some of the goverment buildings and ate the lunch at the hotel. In the evening we had a 5 meal menu at Thames Dinner Cruise , a really nice thing to do and the boats travel from Westminister along the Thames to Tower of London where it turns around and travels back to Westminister. You pass several buildings such as the Big Ben, London Bridge, Tower of London, the Millenium Dome etc.

Thursday 2:th of June.
This day I wake up and took a run from the Cavalry museum to Buckingham palace, a nice way to wake after a big dinner the night before. Eat some breakfeast at the hotel and later joined the group that was going to see Westminister. We where guided by a London traveler guide which showed us such things as Parliament Square, Downing st. och Big Ben, Westminister abbey, Changing of the horse guards, Trafalgar Square. I ate dinner at Radisson Hotel, it tasted really good. At the evening we eat dinner at an italian restaurant.
Friday 3:th of June
This day started with a tour to BBC where we learned more about BBC, media, and upcoming trends. Interesting to hear about. After the tour I had some time on my own and took a walk to national gallery, a lot beautyful paintings. At the evening we had the big event at Burberry. After arriving to the headquarter where had champagne and light hors d'oeuvres. It was nice meet some of the other Ball State student. Angela Ahrendts that is CEO of Burberry hold a speach about the company and her work. Interesting to hear about. Later on the evening I went to an italian restaurant.

Saturday 4:th of June
This day we took a chartered bus to Windsor and visited the castle. It was exciting to see this beatyful and impressive castle. I was able to buy some english clothers in Windsor and the prices was cheaper than London which I think is a quite expensive city. After returned to the hotel we ate a fareweel dinner at Mint leaf restaurant. We watched the musical Dreamboats and petticoats. A really nice musical with good music and good performance.
